The SubWet 2.0 software program is used in the design of wetlands to treat waste water and improve water quality. Dr. Wootton, recently added cold climate simulation models to the software program. Wootton is the Senior Scientist and Director of the Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment at Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario. “Fleming’s participation in the upcoming Consultative Meeting on Environmentally Sound Technologies (ESTs) for Wastewater Management Partnership at UNEP offices in Paris is a result of the very successful and recent collaboration between UNEP and CAWT on modeling software.” said Dr. Brent Wootton, “I am pleased to be able to represent Fleming College and will explore opportunities for future collaboration”. CAWT is leading research on the construction of wetlands to naturally treat wastewater in the Arctic, part of Canada’s International Polar Year activities. Dr. Wooton will be in Paris from December 6 to 9, 2009.
