Fleming College’s Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment (CAWT) has achieved ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certification from the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation (CALA).
The CAWT has become the only college laboratory in Ontario with this certification listed in CALA’s Directory of Accredited Laboratories. The ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard formally identifies laboratories that offer testing services that operate at a level that ensures quality, competency, and reliability. The CAWT achieved accreditation on April 4, 2017.
Achieving ISO/IEC certification is a formidable process that takes dedication and years of hard work. The long accreditation process assesses the proficiency of the laboratory and the methods and equipment used by the laboratory and its staff. Laboratory staff must show a commitment to precision and to operating at an exemplary level.
The CAWT at Fleming College has been providing the water and wastewater industry with quality applied research support for over twelve years. The ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation builds on the Centre’s existing technology certification and verification services, with a full range of accredited parameters for water and wastewater analyses.
